Abstract
It has been shown that coenzyme I is required by an enzyme system or systems in rat-liver homogenates, which are able to metabolize pregnane-3 [alpha]: 20 [alpha]-diol. In a large scale expt. 50% of the pregnane-3 [alpha] ; 20 [alpha] -diol incubated with rat-liver homogenate was metabolized. Of this amt. 10% was recovered as crystalline pregnane-3 [alpha] -ol-20-one. No other crystalline products of the metabolism of pregnanediol were obtained. Keywords
