Aspects of the Use of Lithium for the Non‐Psychiatrist

Abstract
LiCO3 is commonly used in psychiatry, particularly in the management of the manic-depressive syndrome. It is also being increasingly tried in a variety of physical disorders. Important non-psychiatric aspects of the use of the drug are summarized, including its less common actions. Contra-indications to the use of Li are discussed, and the management of Li intoxication is outlined.
