Abstract
Studies of the pattern of urinary excretion of pethidine and promazine, and of a selection of their primary metabolites, suggest that metabolism of these agents is rendered somewhat deficient during pregnancy, during the neonatal period and under the influence of certain oral contraceptive agents. Some general conclusions have been drawn from these observations. Increased caution in the administration of drugs to patients known to be taking oral contraceptives is recommended. Keywords
