Abstract
A direct method for the estimation of nicotinuric acid and of nicotinamide in the presence of large amounts of nicotinic acid is described. It depends upon the separation of nicotinuric acid or nicotinamide from interfering substances by paper chromatography and the measurement of their UV absorption after elution from the paper. Linear calibration curves have been obtained for nicotinuric acid over the range 0-100 [mu]g and for nicotinamide over the range 0-40 [mu]g. The UV absorption spectrum of nicotinuric acid in water and in [image]-HC1 has been measured. Keywords
