Abstract
The piezoelectric devices and materials so far used are summarized and the recent developments and problems to be solved in applications of piezoelectric single crystals, thin films, ceramics, polymers and composites are reviewed. New surface acoustic wave modes in familiar crystals are also dealt with for further developments of surface acoustic wave devices. Among them the Li2B4O7 single crystal and ZnO thin film are described with the most interest. The future trends and problems are forecast. Keywords
