$\mathit{B}$ Decays Involving $\mathit{\eta }$ and ${\eta }^{\prime }$ in Light of the $\mathit{B}\to {\mathit{K}\mathit{\eta }}^{\prime }$ Process

The observation by the CLEO Collaboration of the decays $B^{(+,0\mathrm{})}\to K^{(+,0\mathrm{})}{\eta }^{\prime }$ is shown to imply a significant but still uncertain contribution from the flavor-SU(3)-singlet component of the ${\eta }^{\prime }$. By comparing the rate for these decays with others for decays of $B$ mesons to two pseudoscalar mesons, it is shown that the prospects for observing $\mathrm{CP}$-violating asymmetries in certain modes such as $B^{+}\to {\pi }^{+}\eta$ and $B^{+}\to {\pi }^{+}{\eta }^{\prime }$ are quite good.
