Abstract
Expts. were carried out to analyze the effect of intraven. injns. of highly concd, solns. on the circulation of mammals. When blood is mixed with a hypertonic NaCl soln., and the mixture is subsequently diluted with isotonic NaCl, adenine derivatives are released from the-blood cells and may be detected spectro-scopically. Expts. on the rabbit indicate that significant hypo-tensive responses result from intraven. injn. of amts. of adenine derivatives of the order of those which may be expected to be released from erythrocytes following exposure to strongly concd, solns. and subsequent return to an isotonic medium. Keywords
