Abstract
The results of a polymeric fabrication technology for low cost, monomode, integrated optics components suitable for passive fibre-chip coupling are presented. The waveguide substrates are moulded by reaction casting from microstructured nickel moulds comprising waveguide and fibre alignment structures as well. An excess loss figure of 6 dB at 1.3 µm wavelength was measured for a 3 cm long waveguide between two passively coupled monomode fibres. Keywords
