Abstract
Propositus is a 30 year-old (in 1958) Japanese male with a moderately severe hemorrhagic tendency since the age of about 6 months. The defect in the patient''s clotting mechanism was attributed to a deficiency of factor V (proaccelerin) in his plasma. Two children, one son and one daughter, of the patient also have had a bleeding manifestation very similar to his. The results of the hemostatic examinations indicated the moderate deficiency of factor V in their blood. That the parahemophilic platelets are deficient in the platelet factor 1 activity was confirmed. This is the 1st case report of parahemophilia in Japan. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
