On the problem of a 'complete' experimental characterisation of Auger decay

Abstract
The possibility of determining experimentally the absolute values of the Auger decay amplitudes and their relative phases is discussed. It is shown that measurements of the intensity of the Auger electrons and of their angular distribution and spin polarisation can provide a complete description of the Auger decay process within the framework of the standard 'two-step' model. Various types of experiments are discussed from the point of view of obtaining information on Auger decay.
