Abstract
A pilot study was performed to elucidate whether by local or peroral application of glutamic acid, glycine and cysteine, the amino acid concentrations in the aqueous humor could be increased. After local application of a 4% solution of the 3 amino acids there is a remarkable increase in glycine and cysteine, while the rise in concentration of glutamic acid is less evident. Peroral application of 0.4 g glutamic acid, 0.2 g glycine, and 0.4 g cysteine/kg bodyweight effects an increase in concentrations in the aqueous. Lowering the doses to 1/2 or 1/5 respectively, one glutamic acid and cysteine are still above the normal level. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
