Abstract
This paper develops a novel method for evaluating cumulative margin frequency. The method is very simple and computationally very efficient. It does not require evaluation of equivalent transition rates nor it uses iterative approach, but instead, it makes use of the concept of boundary probabilities. These probabilities have simple physical interpretation, thus aiding considerably in the understanding of the frequency and duration method. They are easy to compute since they require only single unit decompositions of the available capacity table.
