Abstract
It is shown that it is possible to obtain asymptotic tracking for SISO discrete-time systems by appropriate extension of the results given by A. Isidori and C.I. Byrnes (1990) for nonlinear continuous-time systems. Conditions for the existence of an approximate solution based on the linearized solution are established. The analysis presented can be readily extended to a MIMO system with a well-defined relative degree. Keywords
