Abstract
H2SO4 in 60-70% concn., when added to alcoholic solns. of estrone and estradiol in the presence of heat, results in the development of a fluorescent compound. A fluorometric method for the detn. of estrone and estradiol, using the extraction method of Bachman and Petit, is presented. Recovery of known amts. of estrone and estradiol to urine in amts. of 0.2 to 0.5 microgram averages between 50 and 60%. Data are made available in various normal and pathological urines to show the possible clinical application of the method.
