Abstract
At least 11 different porphyrins were obtained following incubation of normal rat liver homogenate with porphobilinogen for 0.5 to 22 hours. Copro-, proto-, and uroporphyrins (chiefly type III isomer) predominated, being present in the homogenate chiefly as non-fluorescing porphyrinogens. The overall yield as porphyrin was more than 50% in each of the incubated samples. Keywords
