Photodielectric Investigations on ZnS Phosphors

Abstract
Both components of the permittivity of ZnS powders embedded in polystyrene are measured in the frequency range from 0.3 to 500 kHz. It is shown that the dielectric behaviour of the phosphors, when excited optically (photodielectric effect), can be described by the Debye equations. The two‐layer capacitor model does not explain all the dielectric properties of ZnS luminescent materials. The results obtained with certain ZnS specimens can, however, be interpreted by using the concept of transposition processes.
