Abstract
The adm. of estrone and diethylstilbestrol over long periods of time retards significantly the growth of rats kept on diets deficient in I as well as when adequate I is available. The toxic properties of diethylstilbestrol are more pronounced than estrone when given in estrogenically equivalent doses. Toxic manifestations are more accentuated in animals on an I deficient diet than on a normal diet. Both diethylstilbestrol and estrone cause significant depression of the I content of the thyroids of rats kept on an I deficient diet. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
