Abstract
Spatially resolved electric field measurements in the cathode fall region of a glow discharge are performed using optogalvanic detection of He Rydberg atoms. The large linear Stark effect of Rydberg levels provides an accurate, sensitive measure of discharge electric fields.Keywords
