Über reduzierende Substanzen der lebenden Gewebe.

Abstract
Protein-free tissue extracts were treated with Folin''s lactate of silver. The precipitate contains glutathione and a yellow pigment[long dash]apparently identical with the yellow oxidation-pigment of Warburg and Christian; the solution contains ascorbic acid. This pigment is abundant in extracts of liver and kidney, scanty in extracts of testis and brain of the rat, in transplantable malignant tumors of the rat and in several cancers of man. The earlier assumption, that glutathione acts as a reversible oxidation-reduction system of the living tissue, was not confirmed.
