Abstract
The [alpha] 1-globulin of human serum can be resolved in phosphate at a pH around 8.8. The differences in the apparent relative proportions of the components of serum in this buffer and in diethylbarbiturate buffer of pH 8.6 were less than 3% of the total area in 33, and less than 2.1% in 27 out of 34 cases. These differences are not of clinical significance and phosphate at pH 8.8 and I=0.15 may therefore be used in place of diethylbarbiturate buffer at pH 8.6 and I=0,l.
