Abstract
The authors describe the distribution of the Gm and Inv phenotypes in six European populations: Germany, Finland, Greece, Netherlands, Czechoslovakia and Yougoslavia, for 1285 subjects. The frequencies of the Gm factors are most variable from one population to another. Contrarily the Inv(a) factor does not show significant variations. The limits of variations are: Gm(a) factor: from 38% to 58%; Gm(b) factor: 85% to 97%; Gm(x) factor: 3% to 27%; The hypothesis of 3 genes: Gma, Gmax and Gmb is in perfect accordance with the observed facts. No observed numbers are different from the calculated values for a panmictic population; The mode of distribution of the Gm(a) factor is described: in occidental Europe its frequency decreases with latitude, introducing correlative variations of the Gm(x) and Gm(b) factors. Keywords
