Abstract
A new amino acid has been isolated from cabbage. It occurs free, accounting for more than 4% of the nonprotein nitrogen. It was identified as (+)(S-methyl-L-cysteine-S-oxide). Fourteen spp. of Cruciferae out of 18 other spp. tested did not contain any of the amino acid. Keywords
