Abstract
The influence of electric fields on the splitting of the 6S5/2 Mn++ ground state is investigated in NaCl on two centres with charge compensating cation vancancy. The change of the ground state splitting is described by Σ Ri j k Si Sj Fk. The tensor components Ri j k are determined. Electric‐field‐induced orientation effects of the dipole moment of the centre with n.n. cation vacancy enable us to determine the signs of the tensor components Ri j k.Keywords
