Aftereffect investigations in mixed-valence indium chlorides

Abstract
We present a new analysis of a series of measurements of the static and time-dependent interactions in the angular correlation of γ rays from Cd111 following electron capture in In111, in InCl3, InCl2, InCl1.8, InCl1.5, and InCl compounds. The time-dependent hyperfine interaction arising from the electronic rearrangements which follow the nuclear electron capture is analyzed with the use of an adequate parametrization. In this way, aftereffects and the local electronic properties of the compounds are related. Results indicating that the local electron availability at the impurity sites increases with the In content are discussed. The measured static quadrupole interactions are tentatively assigned to different indium oxidation states or crystalline sites.
