THE ROENTGEN DIAGNOSIS OF ABDOMINAL MASSES IN CHILDREN

Abstract
Diatrizoate compounds are relatively safe and effective for intravenous injection in the evaluation of abdominal masses in children. The technique of inferior venacavagraphy is described, which provides information supplementary to that obtained by intravenous urography. It aids the management of tumors by furnishing information regarding resectability prior to surgery. Pitfalls in interpretation of inferior venacavagrams and in management of tumors are discussed. Examples are given of 2 rare conditions, hemihypertrophy of the limbs and bilateral kidney involvement, which may occur with Wilms'' tumors.
