Abstract
Monte Carlo calculations are performed for two directed systems: the problem of directed animals and the problem of directed aggregation. Taking advantage of recent exact results obtained for the directed animal model, we present a Monte Carlo method which produces directed animals with unbiased statistics, in contrast with previous methods for polymer problems. Large typical clusters of each type are displayed and estimations of the exponents governing the mean length and width of the clusters are obtained, showing that the two models are in different universality classes. Keywords
