Abstract
Colchicine treatment of diploid self-incompatible plants of Petunia axillaris produced tetraploids which were self-compatible. These characteristics were transmitted to seedlings from selfed flowers of the tetraploids. The seedlings were also cross-compatible in all intra-cross relations.
