Abstract
One hundred and three cardiac outputs by cuvette oximeter were detd. in 21 dogs. The cyclopropane concn. in arterial blood was detd. at the time of each dye injn. Cardiac output increased slightly with the increasing depth of anesthesia, but the relationship was not marked since the correlation coefficient was only + 0.418 + 0.099. The cardiac output increased slightly in 6 successive detns.; this is in contrast to the results with thiopental Na, in which the cardiac output increased markedly in successive detns. The systolic and diastolic blood pressures, heart rate, stroke vol. and peripheral resistance remained essentially unchanged throughout the series of cardiac output detns. The constancy of the peripheral resistance under cyclopropane anesthesia is striking in comparison with the marked decrease under thiopental Na.Keywords
