Fat Deposition in Rat Tibia Due to Lysine Deficiency.

Abstract
The composition of tibiae from rats kept for 5 weeks after weaning on a 90% bread diet was determined and compared with the same data from animals on lysine-supplemented bread diets and on a stock diet. While the percent bone ash and protein in the bone remained constant.the fat content was found considerably elevated and the water content correspondingly decreased when the bread diet was fed. Lysine supplementation corrected the accumulation of fat and the growth retardation observed on the bread diet.Keywords
