Abstract
Summary Histochemical studies of 12 strains of diploid human fibroblasts derived from newborn foreskins revealed marked variation of alkaline phosphatase activity within all populations, whether classified as constitutive for the enzyme or inducible by substrate. Variation was also apparent in non-induced populations having low activity and in “self-induced” populations having high activity. Keywords
