Abstract
Differential cross sections were measured for pion elastic and inelastic scattering from and at MeV. Elastic scattering was analyzed using a Kisslinger potential with and without free parameters. The low-lying collective states were analyzed using distorted wave impulse approximation calculations with no free parameters and with transition densities obtained from electron and proton scattering. These calculations adequately reproduced the pion scattering data. Ground-state neutron density root-mean-square radii were estimated.
