Abstract
The chemical investigation of the leaves of Anona senegalensis, which has alleged anthelmintic properties, has been continued using chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. Carbohydrates were found both in free and combined states, but no trisaccharide was present. The glycoside, quercitrin (3‐L‐rhamnosyl quercetin), and the aglycone, quercetin (5: 7: 3′: 4′‐tetrahydroxyflavonol), were detected. A small amount of protein was obtained, which yielded several amino‐acids on hydrolysis. A few free amino‐acids were also present.Palmitone and β‐sitosterol, together with other sterol‐like substances, were obtained from the unsaponifiable matter from the soft leaf wax.
