Abstract
Urinary folate excretion was measured in a healthy 35-year-old male after ingestion of food folate and compared with folate excretion after pteroylmonoglutamic acid standards. Excretion patterns suggested that total folate was absorbed from dietary items such as calf’s liver, spinach, and peas, but that folate was less available from cauliflower, pumpkin, and tomato. The problems inherent in this test system are discussed. Keywords
