Abstract
There is evidence that the habitual food consumption of present day college women is lower than it was a generation ago, and is lower among Oklahoma women than among those reported for other sections of the United States. The protein of the diets analyzed was more deficient than was the calorie content. The probable relation of these sub-adequate diets to the low basal metabolic rates, previously recorded for the college women of Oklahoma, is discussed, with the tentative conclusion that prolonged undernutrition is one factor in many of the cases of lower metabolism. Keywords
