Abstract
An analysis is made of the transverse stability of lower hybrid solutions. The variational Ritz' procedure is used to extend previous analytic investigations to shorter wave-lengths of the perturbations. By careful numerical analysis the agreement between analytic predictions and numerical results is shown to be better than previously reported. Keywords
