Abstract
In nine separate studies on four patients with severe pitting edema, aldosterone secretion fell during a 24-hour period of acute salt and water depletion induced by diuretics. These results contrast with those on two patients already rendered edema free as well as with previous studies in normal subjects, in whom aldosterone secretion rose during a comparable diuresis. Keywords
