Abstract
Following the intramuscular injection of estradiol-17[alpha] to young male and female calves, considerable quantities of the hormone were recovered in the urine. The partial metabolic transformation of estradiol-17[alpha] to estrone was demonstrated in the same experiments indicating that in this specie, a common metabolic pathway exists for both the 17[alpha] and 17[beta] isomers of estradiol. Some aspects of estrogen metabolism are discussed.
