Effect of Progestational Agents on Gonadal and Adrenal Cortical Function in Patients with Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy and Carcinoma of the Prostate

Abstract
In 14 patients with BPH or carcinoma of the prostate, plasma testosterone levels significantly decreased 1½ to 4 months after administration of 3 g/week, im, of Delalutin or 100 mg daily, by mouth, of Chlormadinone. No significant changes in total or fractional urinary estrogens or total neutral 17-ketosteroids were noted, although a transient rise in 17-ketogenic steroids occurred.
