Abstract
Urinary and blood uric acid levels were followed in 7 patients treated with probenecid (p-dipropylsulfamyl) benzoic acid). Acute attacks of gout occurred when circulating urate was normal. Possibly a precursor of uric acid is responsible for the acute paroxysm. Keywords
