Viability of Monkey Kidney Tissue Cultures Stored at 5 C

Abstract
Cell cultures of monkey renal tissue were held at 4-6[degree]C and observed for viability and for sensitivity to three types of polioviruses. It was noted that monkey kidney cell cultures could be stored successfully for periods up to six weeks at 4-6[degree]C. With subsequent reincubation at 35[degree]C for 24-48 hours, the cultures were again usable for the usual 3-4 weeks at incubator temperature. Stored cultures retained their sensitivity to polioviruses, and were satisfactory for tube and plaque type virus assays.Keywords
