Abstract
Under sub-optimal anaerobic conditions, the rate of killing of Bacteroides fragilis by metronidazole was shown to be increased by either viable or heat-killed Escherichia coli. The effect was shown to be due to reduction of the pO2 of the medium by E. coli. Keywords
