Abstract
The optical reflectance spectra of microcrystalline cubic and hexagonal BN films prepared by plasma CVD, a sintered cubic BN and a pyrolytic BN were measured in the energy range 5–25 eV with synchrotron radiation. For cubic materials, reflectance peaks appear near 11.4 and 14.0 eV. Hexagonal materials have peaks at 6.2, 7.0, 10 and 16 eV. The reflectivity peaks are interpreted using available experimental and theoretical data. Keywords
