Abstract
A general calculational method is proposed to investigate the response of an electron residing in a one-dimensional potential well to an intense laser field. The numerical technique is based upon a pseudospectral solution of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation and is capable of incorporating the spatial and temporal aspects of the electromagnetic field. The intensity and frequency dependence of the ionisation rate along with the ejected-photoelectron spectrum are calculated for a one-dimensional cut-off harmonic-oscillator potential well. Keywords
