Abstract
Using a novel development of the Auston switch technique, ultrafast intramolecular photocurrents are for the first time directly observed on a collection of isolated polymer chains in solution with subnanosecond resolution. The polydiacetylenes used may undergo conformational changes with temperature which have a profound effect on the ability of the polymer to transport charge. The carrier range on the chain is obtained and the carrier velocity deduced from the shape of the transient. Keywords
