Abstract
Cell-mediated immunity was studied in 23 cases of advanced gastrointestinal cancer. The patients received levamisole at 150 mg/day for 3 consecutive days each week for 4 wk. In cases at the terminal stage of gastrointestinal cancer, the phytohemagglutinin-induced blast formation rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes after the administration of levamisole showed a slight increase, but cases with blast formation rates over 40% increased markedly 3 or 4 wk after the initial administration of levamisole. The peripheral blood lymphocyte count showed little change in these cases. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
