Abstract
AUREOMYCIN has been reported as an effective agent in the therapy of primary atypical pneumonia.1 2 3 4 5 6 Most observers have noted a consistent pattern of response, but only one study in which controlled observations were attempted has been presented.5 Although the etiologic agent of this disease has not been established, investigators agree that it is probably a virus.7 Eaton has also demonstrated that aureomycin protected cotton rats from infection with one of the viral agents isolated from cases of primary atypical pneumonia.
