Abstract
The distributed self and mutual capacitances per unit length of non–symmetrical coupled microstrip lines are evaluated numerically by applying the Green's function method. This, together with known results for the capacitances in free space, is then used to find the normal mode velocities, impedances and mode voltage ratios for non–symmetrical coupled microstrip lines. For the special case of identical coupled lines, the results obtained are the same as those of Bryant and Weiss (1968, 1971). The computed normal mode parameters for typical cases are presented. These, results, together with the normal mode analysis of non–symmetrical inhomogeneous coupled line structures formulated by Tripathi (1975, 1977), can be used to analyse the properties of non–symmetrical coupled microstrip circuits for applications as filters, transformers and other useful circuit elements. Keywords
