Abstract
OF all the complications of abdominal surgery, benign stricture of the bile duct is one of the most devastating. The gravity of this condition is emphasized by the hazard to life from biliary stricture, by the difficulty of surgical repair and by the tendency to recurrence. On the basis of Dr. Lahey's interest in biliary stricture, we have had a wide experience with the treatment of this condition since the first stricture was repaired at this clinic in 1919.
