Abstract
Dehydroepiandrosterone or δ4-androstenedione and 17α-hydroxyprogesterone have been isolated from the polycystic ovaries of the Stein-Leventhal syndrome using microchemical techniques. 17α-Hydroxy-δ5-pregnenolone was isolated from the ovaries of 2 patients with the Stein-Leventhal syndrome treated with human pituitary FSH before surgery. The significance of these findings is discussed. Keywords
