Abstract
A commercially available streptococcal identification system, Rapid STREP [biochemical tests], was used to identify 119 viridans strains at the species level. Of the strains tested, 92% were identified correctly with the Rapid STREP system; of the correct identifications, 81% were made at percentages of identification of .gtoreq. 90%. Evidently, the Rapid STREP system is a fairly accurate and rapid (24-h incubation) method for identifying species of viridans streptococci. This publication has 14 references indexed in Scilit:
